Are You Retaining Water? What To Do About Edema…

edema-2

Water retention, edema, bloating.  Uncomfortable health challenges that much too many people suffer with.  But what exactly constitutes water retention?  When one has too much fluid that has accumulated in body cavities and tissues, we must understand this is the body’s cry for help from a problem of imbalances and not enough water.  If we do not feed the body enough water, it tries to compensate by retaining fluid causing these levels to go out of balance.

What are some other health issues related to water retention/edema? Liver problems, kidney problems, circulation, blood pressure, pre-menstrual issues, and pregnancy problems.  All these are associated.

How do you know if your symptoms are caused from retaining water?  If you have and feel swollen ankles, feet and hands, and your belly feels as if it is bulging (also caused from wearing tight clothing) then you could be retaining water. If you see a significant shift in the way your clothing fits one day, then very tight and fitted the next, head feels heavy and achy, then your bloating is probably hormone induced also related to menopausal changes or PMS (most definitely if suffering from estrogen dominance).  Constipation, lack of exercise, allergy symptoms, and even weather and climate changes can have an impact on water retention.

So what are the causes of holding on to so much fluid?  Serious dieting and weight control can cause one to remove foods from the diet that provided the body with natural water.  Diet imbalances are direct causes if they are ones that include red meat, too much salty food, MSG, not enough B complex vitamins, potassium, and most definitely water retention will occur is  you have a diet with not enough protein.  You could also be suffering with dehydration.  Pharmaceutical diuretics, birth control pills, alcohol, and steroidal drugs all cause dehydration.

If you are suffering with chronic edema, consider circulatory problems (such as spider veins and varicose veins), kidney, bladder and liver challenges.  Natural herbal therapies are known to balance metabolism and body chemistry to correct the challenge rather than just helping the body to release fluids.

If your water retention stems from Kidney/Bladder challenges then consider there is an emotion root cause.  Kidney issues also stem from harboring specific negative emotions. The two main emotions that affect the Kidneys are:

  • Fear (TCM – Traditional Chinese Medicine)
  • Unresolved Forgiveness (Holistic Medicine)

Understand please, Family and Friends, that holding on to and harboring these emotions of Fear and Unresolved Forgiveness is to surely weaken the kidneys and eventually one will begin to experience physical signs of kidney problems.  If you know you are holding on to these very emotions, the good news is, strengthening and balancing the kidneys helps you in turn feel strong enough to let go of these emotions.

12 Physical signs of Kidney problems:

  • lines under the eyes
  • purple, deep, dark circles under the eyes
  • puffy eyes
  • fluid retention
  • constant lower back pain
  • frequent, painful urination
  • weak bones (TCM)
  • fatigue specifically between 3pm and 7pm
  • fevers, chills, trembling
  • high blood pressure
  • a dull constant ache in the lower back may indicate kidney stones
  • ear problems, hearing loss, chronic ear infections (in adults and children)

A diet that is mainly vegetarian, low in starch and high in plant based-protein is best to prevent water retention. Dark green vegetables and fruits like lemons, limes, and grapefruits are foods that alkaline the body and help as well.

Eliminate the following: fried foods, salty and sugary foods, caffeine foods, and carbonated beverages which impede the kidney from filtering waste. Avoid dairy foods, starches, fats and heavy grains since these cause clogging and mucous.

Use the following combined for flushing support, to normalize and balance the whole body and the most vital organs from a Chinese medicine perspective, and increase kidney activity:

3 Types of Alcoholics. Which One Are You?

Newly updated 11/16/2016.

Do you have a friend or family member who is a heavy drinker or a binge
drinker
? In other words, an alcoholic? Most people do. And sadly, those that don’t, know someone who is an alcoholic or know someone who knows someone that is. The latest facts and statistics published Jan 2016 by The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism state that:

  • The United States spent $249.0 billion in 2010 on alcohol misuse problems.
  • Binge drinking is three-quarters of the total cost of alcohol misuse.
  • Regarding the global burden, in 2012, 3.3 million deaths, or 5.9 percent of all global deaths (7.6 percent for men and 4.0 percent for women), were attributable to alcohol consumption.

But some people have figured out a way to overcome this emotional and physical imbalance, and have figured out how to focus on bringing that oh so important vital organ called, the Liver, back to life.

There are various reasons why a person would begin to abuse alcohol and become addicted. First, understand the following… Negative addictions are ALL rooted in depression, as seen from a holistic and Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view. Addictions to everything from cigarettes to cigars, to marijuana and drugs, to alcohol, are ALL rooted in the person having some form of depression.

The Liver is the main vital organ directly linked to alcohol addiction, and is known, in the two alternative medicine approaches mentioned prior, to have a specific negative emotion that stems from it. The specific emotion related to the liver is, Anger. So, alcohol abuse (and again, ALL negative substance addictions) is characterized by depression, anger, stress, insecurities and, yes, deficiencies in the diet (nutritional deficiencies).

image

Genetics has been found to also play a part in reasons for alcohol addiction (and other addictions). Yes, believe it or not, it can be inherited as a family trait. Alcohol addiction is a serious disease…  Addictions as these are so severe, the person ‘feels’ as though they may die if they don’t continue with it. And unfortunately, the majority of addicts say they are not alcoholics.  Over 41% of alcoholics develop Hepatitis and Cirrhosis, both well-known liver diseases.  In other studies, alcohol abuse shows it also contributes to a compromised immune system, mineral deficiencies, mental deterioration, and even diabetes and pancreatitis.

According to the NIAAA (National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism), these are the latest 2016 published Drinking Statistics:

Alcohol Use in the United States:

  • Prevalence of Drinking: In 2014, 87.6 percent of people ages 18 or older reported that they drank alcohol at some point in their lifetime; 71.0 percent reported that they drank in the past year; 56.9 percent reported that they drank in the past month.
  • Prevalence of Binge Drinking and Heavy Drinking: In 2014, 24.7 percent of people ages 18 or older reported that they engaged in binge drinking in the past month; 6.7 percent reported that they engaged in heavy drinking in the past month.

Alcohol Use Disorders (AUDs) in the United States:

  • Adults (ages 18+): 16.3 million adults ages 18 and older3 (6.8 percent of this age group4 ) had an AUD in 2014. This includes 10.6 million men3 (9.2 percent of men in this age group4 ) and 5.7 million women3 (4.6 percent of women in this age group4 ).
  • • About 1.5 million adults received treatment for an AUD at a specialized facility in 2014 (8.9 percent of adults who needed treatment)5 . This included 1.1 million men5 (9.8 percent of men in need) and 431,000 women (7.4 percent of women who needed treatment).
  • Youth (ages 12–17): In 2014, an estimated 679,000 adolescents ages 12–176 (2.7 percent of this age group7 ) had an AUD. This number includes 367,000 females6 (3.0 percent of females in this age group7 ) and 311,000 males6 (2.5 percent of males in this age group7 ).
  • • An estimated 55,000 adolescents (18,000 males and 37,000 females) received treatment for an alcohol problem in a specialized facility in 2014.8

  • Alcohol-Related Deaths:
  • Nearly 88,000 people (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women) die from alcohol-related causes annually, making it the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States.
  • In 2014, alcohol-impaired driving fatalities accounted for 9,967 deaths (31 percent of overall driving fatalities).

Alcohol and the Human Body:

  • In 2013, of the 72,559 liver disease deaths among individuals aged 12 and older, 45.8 percent involved alcohol. Among males, 48.5 percent of the 46,568 liver disease deaths involved alcohol. Among females, 41.8 percent of the 25,991 liver disease deaths involved alcohol.34 »
  • Among all cirrhosis deaths in 2011, 48.0 percent were alcohol related. The proportion of alcohol-related cirrhosis was highest (72.7 percent) among decedents ages 25–34, followed by decedents aged 35–44, at 70.3 percent.35 »
  • In 2009, alcohol-related liver disease was the primary cause of almost 1 in 3 liver transplants in the United States.36 »
  • Drinking alcohol increases the risk of cancers of the mouth, esophagus, pharynx, larynx, liver, and breast.

Some people call themselves Moderate Drinkers. However, what is the difference between a Moderate Drinker, a Heavy Drinker, and a BINGE Drinker? Here is what the NIAAA explains are the specific ways in which each of them vary:

Moderate or “low-risk” drinking:

Research shows that people who drink moderately may be less likely to experience an ‘alcohol use disorder‘ (AUD). These drinking levels, which differ for men and women, are:

For men: No more than 4 drinks on any single day AND no more than 14 drinks per week

For women: No more than 3 drinks on any single day AND no more than 7 drinks per week

To stay low risk for AUDs, you must keep within both the single-day and weekly limits.

Heavy or “at-risk” drinking:

For healthy adults in general, heavy drinking means consuming more than the single-day or the weekly amounts listed above. About 1 in 4 people who drink above these levels already has alcohol dependence or alcohol abuse problems.

Binge drinking:

Binge drinking means drinking so much within about 2 hours that blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels reach 0.08g/dL. For women, this usually occurs after about 4 drinks, and for men, after about 5. Drinking this way can pose health and safety risks, including car crashes and injuries. Over the long term, binge drinking can damage the liver and other organs.

Having shared that, how else would you know if you are suffering with alcohol addiction? How else would you know if you are an alcoholic?. Here are some questions you can ask yourself:

  • Do I use alcohol for daily calories instead of food?
  • Do I experience frequent short term memory loss?
  • Am I suffering with nervousness?
  • Am I lacking in coordination that is noticeable to others?
  • Are my LDL cholesterol levels (bad cholesterol levels) high?
  • Is my blood sugar high?
  • Do I lack emotional control?
  • Am I angry very often, abusive, and aggressive towards family? Towards friends?

The Liver controls hormone balance and filters hormones. In Men, excessive alcohol especially affects their estrogen levels through liver damage. Alcohol abuse can bring a man to experience enlargement of breasts, reduced sex drive, and beard growth.  It also causes the testes (testicles) to shrink. There are lifestyle changes that can be quite a challenge for both men and women,  but making major lifestyle changes may be your best medicine for changing body chemistry.  These reforms may seem overwhelming and difficult at times,  but this is the first step to helping the body heal itself.

There are things that must be done to reduce’

alcohol craving. First, AVOID  people and places that might make you want to desire alcohol. And next, use alternative natural therapies since they have long proven effective in controlling cravings for alcohol, restoring liver health, emotional and physical balance and well-being within the body, and this has been evident in my own patients and clients.

The Delicate Woman: Menstrual Problems, PCOS, & More…

female_discomforts_01_img0010

A woman is delicate. So delicate, that if her intricate reproductive system and hormones are just slightly imbalanced, she will experience health discomforts and menstrual problems on a monthly basis that seem unbearable. Some of these monthly challenges range from the most common which are:

  • irregular periods
  • painful periods with cramps
  • severe heavy bleeding during menses
  • PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome)

And PMS has over 150 documented symptoms ranging from:

  • headaches
  • bloating
  • mood swings that can last anywhere from 2 days to over 2
    weeks.

Ladies, our lifestyle, diet, glandular health, and hormonal balance all play a part in how we feel as women; monthly, weekly, daily. Even young adolescent girls who do severe diets or have eating disorders along with low estrogen levels start experiencing delayed or lack of menses (periods).   Another increasing cause of menstrual problems is low blood calcium levels. Blood calcium levels (think blood not bone) are regulated by the kidneys. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches us the kidneys are the residence of the loins and are closely related to the reproduction, growth and aging of the human body. For this reason, when the pure substances of the kidneys are in short supply, a woman may suffer from:

  • suppression of menses
  • infertility
  • slow growth
  • premature aging

And everything ranging from:

  • uterine challenges (Fibroids, etc.)
  • Ovarian challenges (Ovarian Cysts, PCOS – Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Irregular PAP Smear, Small Tumors)

pcos1

Ovarian Cysts are found in women with menstrual problems, excessive bleeding during their periods, those with irregular periods or lack of periods.  These cysts are chamber sacs, small, and filled with fluid.  Causes?  Hormone imbalances, usually estrogen dominance, and hypothyroidism.  PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)  is much more serious and affects 1 in 10 women of childbearing age.  These are multiple cysts that develop on both ovaries and menstruation becomes irregular.  PCOS is accompanied by severe weight gain to the point of obesity, insulin resistance, skin problems such as adult acne, infertility, and excess facial hair growth.  Eating disorders and exposure to chronic stress play a large role in the development of PCOS.

All of these symptoms should be treated by having a main focus on toning up the kidneys. How? First, reduce these significantly:

  • caffeinated drinks
  • carbonated drinks
  • increase exercise but avoid too much exercise. In other words, ‘competitor’s syndrome’ or ‘marathoner’s syndrome’.
  • venereal diseases, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
  • adrenal exhaustion from extreme levels of stress
  • IUD (Intrauterine device) cause cervical lesions and cysts
  • emotional shock
  • birth control pills (they are known to cause menstrual irregularities)

Use the following herbal combination to normalize menstrual flow, promote a healthy monthly menstrual cycle, balance hormones, support exhausted adrenals, promote healthy blood composition, and to help the body shrink cysts:

Ladies. In the past, women used to suffer in silence and believed that monthly discomforts were something that could not be avoided; that it was all part of being a woman. Since women years ago weren’t in the high profile workplace it was easy for them to go to bed and suffer alone. Today, the modern woman seems almost made to order for imbalances and stress. Don’t suffer any longer and do something to help your bodies heal. A holistic natural therapy approach has always shown promise and benefits a woman’s delicate reproductive balance. Be well.~

Sex, Women & Looking Younger

couple-intimacy-b&w

Newly updated June 20, 2016.

Yes, it’s true. Over 43% of women in the US have some type of sexual dysfunction according to a report in The Journal of the American Medical Association. Let’s discuss in detail Poor or No Orgasm, Low Libido (Low Sexual Desire), and Frigidity.

The problem of low sexual desire is not something we are just seeing happen in today’s day and age. Women (and Men) at all times in history have felt the need for help in the sexual area. This part of our lives is at the most basic, elemental center of our being.

Poor or No Orgasm in a woman can be due to various things. Yet, research indicates the top 3 reasons for poor or no orgasm in women are:

1. a weakened circulatory system

2. emotional disconnect with her sexual partner (since a woman’s sexual response is very much dependent on physical and emotional stimuli)

3. poor self-body image

When it comes to circulation, for a woman to be more sensitive, improved blood supply to vaginal walls and the clitoris is necessary. If there is healthy circulation to the groin area, you can be sure to also be more sensitive on the famous G-Spot.

The Grafenberg spot (G-spot) is an area of heightened pleasure for any woman when it is stimulated properly. According to The Journal of Sexual Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2012, the G-spot has a distinguishable anatomic structure. Yes, Ladies (and Gentlemen), it does!  It appears as a well-delineated sac with walls that resemble fibro-connective tissues and resemble erectile tissues. Erectile tissues! Think of it! If the G-spot can actually become ‘erect’  it makes perfect sense as to why blood flow is crucial to achieving an orgasm/multiple orgasms! (See image above for the exact location in detail of the G-spot.)

Regarding poor self-body image, you must remember Ladies, that you must learn to love yourself, first and foremost. Think of your body positively, know and understand what pleases you sexually, and share with your partner your sexual fantasies and ideas, no matter what they may be. Walk around your home in the nude as often as you can. Look at yourself in the mirror. If you do not put yourself on a pedestal and love and treat yourself as the Queen that you are, who can know how they should treat you?

Libido-lowering elements such as: the over-use of drugs (antibiotics
and many prescription drugs have side effects of impairing sex
drive and even cause vaginal dryness), a stressed, high-pressured, rushed lifestyle,  hormone-injected foods, foods with hormone-disrupting chemicals, and high fat nutrient-poor diets laced with sugar and refined flours, all lead to a lack of time for love-making, low energy and low libido.

Frigidity is painful intercourse usually due to vaginal dryness, and/or fear rooted in sexual trauma (possibly rape, molestation, or any other
sexual episode in the woman’s life that brings her discomfort when trying to be intimate). If vaginal dryness is the concern I recommend improving lubrication internally and improving skin tone ( I will give the solution for this at the end of this article).

Fear to have sex because of some physical or emotional trauma may also bring on depression. If a woman is taking anti-depressants or other medications, her libido is almost guaranteed to suffer. If she feels she cannot be pleased or please her partner, it may bring about despair and an even more depressed state, and it becomes a vicious cycle. Depression-related libido problems are resolved when we increase serotonin and also naturally improve libido with herbal aphrodisiacs (sexual enhancing herbs).

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) teaches us that all the above symptoms in women are due to weakness, weak energy, fear/fright, and ‘damp-heat’ within the body.  What are the main organs that need focus and support according to TCM?  The Kidneys.

The kidneys are in charge of reproduction, growth (because they also dominate
the structural system such as bones, joints, etc.) and maintenance of the metabolic balance of water. Located in the lumbar region of the body, it is said the loins (hips, groin, lower abdomen, reproductive organs) are the residence of the kidneys, so, when the kidneys are ill/diseased, symptoms may occur across the loins. Fear is the emotion related to the Kidneys. And you’ve learned enough with my past information that emotions affect us physically. In  other words, if there is Low Libido, Frigidity, and
Poor Orgasm, focus on the Kidneys!

TCM further teaches us that when the Kidneys are not nourished properly, a woman may be suffering infertility also. All should be treated by toning, strengthening, and reinforcing the kidneys’ energy. In this way we also eliminate deep rooted Fear. In my office I’ve seen time and again the concerned look in many female patients’ faces, and worry in their eyes because they just don’t ‘feel’ right.  This discomfort is formidably lifted from when a woman balances and strengthens her kidneys.

The recommendations I’ve made below are revitalizers for sexual energy as well as effective natural treatments for the unfortunate and common sexual problems I’ve stated in this article. I’ve used these with profound success in my 21 years working with patients and clients. Herbs have a centuries-old reputation for effectiveness in working with the body toward sexual health and enhancement.

Use the following combination of herbal therapies for increased circulation, heightened sexual desire, natural lubrication, and hormonal balance:

* Another tip, Ladies! (And Gentlemen…) Remember I’ve also shared with all of you times before in my posts that studies show an active sex life can make you look up to 7 to 12 years younger, count them, 7 to 12 years younger! “It’s good for you to have good sex,” says David Weeks, a clinical neuropsychologist at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, whose study on the effects of sex on aging appears in his book, Secrets of the Superyoung. With that said, All women (and men) must stay healthy by being active sexually, have safe sex, of course, and stay as young as you can for as long as possible! (And I am known for being Blunt, Direct and Raw about your health.  Why? Because our health and life are too important to beat around the bush;)

Courage and Boldness: What Emotions Can Stop Our Children From Being Great?

If we as parents are not careful, our children’s emotions can rule them instead of them mastering them… And to live a balanced life with Health and Joy, we, and our children, MUST do all in our power to master emotions. According to an article in The Lancet on Infectious Diseases, our emotions are also used against us. It reads: ‘We human beings are creatures not only of intellect but of emotion too. Understanding this very well, campaigners against medical advances appeal to the latter at least as much as the former. From battles over the earliest vaccines, through cornea grafting in the 1950s and heart transplantation in the 1960s, to embryo research today, opponents invariably deploy emotional ammunition as well as whatever rational arguments they can muster.’ So what emotions are poked and prodded to make us feel forced to do things that we should not, keeping our children from feeling truly bold and courageous in their lives, and making their health suffer?

Chinese medicine teaches us of seven (7) emotions that can cause disorders of our internal organs and disease. These seven emotions are: fear, shock, joy, sorrow, worry, contemplation, and anger. Of these there are specifically two (2) that must be focused on to help us overcome the others. These are Fear and Anger. Let me elaborate on these two main emotions.

I have noticed these to be more prevalent today in the past 5 years
than ever before in my 20 years in practice. First, what organs do you think are weakened by Fear? The answer? The Kidneys. Before I continue, I must remind you to open up your minds. You must unlearn what you think you know about your bodies when I discuss Chinese Medicine. It is the only way to truly understand it and help the body to heal itself. Having said this, let’s continue…

Do you have a child with kidney problems? Bladder problems? Bedwetting problems? Frequent urination problems? Constant urinary infections and bladder infections? Have you noticed they are harboring fear or are dealing with unresolved forgiveness and unresolved fear issues? Chinese medicine focuses on strengthening these organs to help the child overcome this debilitating emotion. The kidneys are important organs in charge of growth, reproduction, and maintenance of the metabolic balance of water throughout the body. Everything from bone health, to a healthy puberty, and reproductive system health depends on kidney health. Think of those children you know with back pain, joint problems, ear problems, constant ear infections, or hearing problems, unfounded fears, etc.

Here are other specific symptoms Chinese Medicine teaches us are experienced when the kidneys are weak in children:

  • Weak legs
  • Brittle bones
  • Kidney inflammation
  • White/graying hair
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ear)
  • Back problems
  • Problems when climate turns cold
  • Premature aging in a child
  • Ailments in the bones

To balance and help diminish an excess of the emotion known as Fear, strengthen the kidneys, and increase energy in the body, use both of the following natural therapies with children for minimum 3 months.  If the child has trouble swallowing capsules, they may be opened and mixed in 1-2 oz. of apple juice. Preferably organic.:

These provide a basic balancing of yin energy of the vital organs with specific focus on kidney health.

angry-child

And now, the second emotion,… Anger. This is the emotion related to the Liver. This negative emotion forces energy upward. Think of a child who’s face and/or eyes become red when angry. Heat rises and so this is the perfect example of how this negative energy flows within the body. This upwards energy, which comes from the chemical plant of the body, the liver, will have a child demonstrating symptoms of nausea, vomiting, vomiting blood and may even experience diarrhea containing undigested foods. Do you know a child who gets ‘ticked off’ quickly all the time? A child who throws constant temper tantrums? A child who lives angry at others all the time and/or angry at the world? Please know, these are symptoms of liver imbalances. Do you know a child that even at their tender young age has already been diagnosed with a liver disease? Most likely the child lives with underlying anger.

The liver is one of the most important internal organs in the human body. It is the filter of blood, fat and hormones. It stores and regulates the blood throughout the entire body and is also in control of extending and flexing muscles and joints. The liver loves to grow and disperse, and hates to be inhibited and oppressed. For this reason, when the liver is inhibited by the emotion of anger, it is harmed as a result. Anger and anxiety are even linked to heart disease according to an article this year in The Atlantic. Think of a child dealing with these negative emotions and suffering with early heart disease… All this contributes as a root problem to diseases of the liver. And therefore, when the liver is diseased, a child will demonstrate many more subsequent emotional problems.

Here are other specific symptoms Chinese Medicine teaches us demonstrate Yang liver imbalances:

  • Irritability, anger or hardheadedness
  • Throat irritation
  • Tonsil inflammation
  • Eye infections
  • Allergies
  • Digestive problems
  • Headaches, Migraines
  • Menstrual irregularities

To balance the liver, help bring more harmony within, and bring forth a more joyous child, use the following natural therapy with a child for minimum 3 months:

If we balance the emotional, the physical will follow.  Let’s do all in our power to help our children be happy, healthy, courageous, and bold so they may succeed in life;)

Fear and Anger: 2 Main Emotions That Cause Disease

It is the filter of blood, fat and hormones. It stores and regulates the blood throughout the entire body and is also in control of extending and flexing muscles and joints. The liver loves to grow and disperse, and hates to be inhibited and oppressed. For this reason, when the liver is inhibited by the emotion of anger, it is harmed as a result. Anger and anxiety are even linked to heart disease according to an article this year in The Atlantic. All this contributes as a root problem to diseases of the liver. And  therefore, when the liver is diseased, a person demonstrates many more subsequent emotional problems.

Here are specific symptoms Chinese Medicine teaches us demonstrate Yang liver imbalances:

  • Gastric acidity-gastric
  • High triglyceride count
  • Irritability, anger or hardheadedness
  • Throat irritation
  • Tonsil inflammation
  • Gallbladder stones
  • Eye infections (ex: sties)
  • Allergies
  • Digestive problems
  • Migraines
  • Menstrual irregularities

To balance the liver, and help bring more harmony within, more joy to the body and self, use the following natural therapy for minimum 3 months:

If we balance the emotional, the physical will follow.

Are You A Host To Parasites?

IMG_4235.JPG

Newly updated Jan.18, 2016.

So, we learn within Naturopathic, Holistic, and Traditional Chinese Medicine that there is no Cancer without a presence of parasites… Let me repeat that statement: ‘There is no Cancer without a presence of parasites.’ Even Candida Yeast infections are caused by a parasite. And Candida is an underlying cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In other words, I’ve begun this article with all these hard facts because I want it to be made very clear that Parasites are very much a large cause of a large range of ailments and diseases from slight and mild ones to severe, life-threatening ones.

In the article, ‘Parasites and Cancer’, a Dr. Raphael D’Angelo did some research stating:

‘In a recent month I tested 54 stool specimens. Roundworm eggs were present in 25 people; half were infested with yeast and most had one or more protozoans. What is remarkable is that all the cancer patients had parasites and of those without cancer only one was parasite free!’

It’s been found that humans can be hosts to OVER 130 types of parasites. A staggering close to 90% of people in the US have had parasites at some point in their lives. And over 52 million children in the US are infected. As many as close to 25% of parents become infected by parasites by catching it from their own children.

So what are the signs of parasite infestation?

  • Do you or your child grind your teeth at night when you sleep?
  • Do you or your child have an unrestful sleep pattern that includes moving around the bed constantly? Awaking the next morning off your pillow in a completely different area of the bed than that which you fell asleep in?

Here are some more signs of parasite infection specific to these parasites:

  • Roundworms: intestinal cramping and/or fevers and chills
  • Pin worms: unexplained itching of skin, sometimes with an internal crawling-like feeling, vaginal itch and irritation that may also be present in the perianal and perineal areas. These worms tend to become active at night when the body is at rest. They are very common in children and appear around the anus as thready, white worms. Watch out for children scratching their bums, or backsides, complaining of itching.
  • Hookworms: known as the 2nd most common parasitic infection in the US. Symptoms include abdominal pain, chronic fatigue, lethargy, diarrhea, and anemia (usually unexplained).
  • Protozoa (amoebae): cause joint pain, most times diagnosed as arthritis, pain, dysentery, dehydration, and symptoms similar to leukemia.
  • Blood fluke (Schistosomiasis): these parasites cause severe liver problems, abdominal pain, lesions on the lungs, diarrhea, vomiting, and hemorrhages under the skin.
  • Tapeworms: can block the intestinal tract. Even 1 single worm can cause severe intestinal obstruction. This worm lays eggs sometimes found in the liver, and these have been mistaken for and even treated as if they were Cancer.
  • Giardia: pay close attention to the combination of these symptoms which show up after an incubation period of 1-2 weeks: nausea, diarrhea, cramps, fatigue, abdominal pain and weight loss.

And the numbers of those infected with parasites is shocking.

Trichomoniasis: the most common parasitic infection in the U.S., accounting for an estimated 7.4 million cases per year.

Toxoplasmosis: According to the latest article published by the CDC (Center For Disease Control), there are an estimated 1.5 million new Toxoplasma infections and 400–4,000 cases of congenital toxoplasmosis in the U.S. each year; 1.26 million persons in this country have ocular involvement due to toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis is the third leading cause of death due to foodborne illnesses (375+ deaths). Toxoplasmosis has been found to also cause miscarriages.

So, are you at risk of acquiring parasites?

The CDC also proved in studies of 25 years that 1 in every 5-6 people selected randomly had 1 or more parasites. And guess what?… MOST KISSED AND SLEPT WITH PETS IN THE BED! Most ALSO ate pork, smoked fish, and raw fish (as in sushi), sausages and prosciutto. Sorry to break the news to you… Now, regarding pork. Please know the parasites that infest pork meat, of any kind or style, Do Not Die from cooking. There is NO degree of heat humans can use to cook their food that will kill the parasites that are in pork meat. Next, always, and I mean, always use toilet seat covers when using public bathrooms.

Since parasites have become resistant to antibiotics and many drugs, it is imperative the immune system be supported properly to help our defenses against parasite infestation. What you want is to release, eliminate, and cleanse parasites from the body, remove accumulated fecal matter, mucous and phlegm, and use anti-infectives to create an unfavorable environment for parasites. Parasites leave eggs behind, and so it is imperative to eliminate these also. I recommend the following for minimum 30-45 days:

PARA CLEANSE

TIAO HE CLEANSE

IMMUNE SYSTEM PACK

Additional Tips: Drink only purified water. Bottled water preferably. Wash your vegetables and the greens for your salads thoroughly and eat a green salad daily. Avoid foods that ‘feed’ parasites and make them stronger as junk food, sugar, and dairy foods.
This you should already know, but always wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before each meal and after using the bathroom.

Natural therapies have proven time and again to be the effective treatments for these critters. Share this with others. Prevent Cancer. Prevent disease. And let’s do all we can to get back to Health!

12 Physical Signs Of Kidney Problems

  1. kidneys-3d

Everyone knows Kidney health is not to be ignored. And everyone says that kidney challenges are painful and serious. Even kidney stones are known to be so painful it has been described by those suffering from them that the pain feels worse than giving birth and worse than a heart attack!

Kidney challenges also stem from harboring specific negative emotions. The two main emotions that affect the Kidneys are:

  • Fear (TCM – Traditional Chinese Medicine)
  • Unresolved Forgiveness (Holistic Medicine)

Understand please, Family and Friends, that holding on to and harboring these emotions of Fear and Unresolved Forgiveness is to surely weaken the kidneys and eventually one will begin to experience physical signs of kidney problems.  If you know you are holding on to these very emotions, the good news is, strengthening and balancing the kidneys helps you in turn feel strong enough to let go of these emotions.

12 Physical signs of Kidney problems:

  • lines under the eyes
  • purple, deep, dark circles under the eyes
  • puffy eyes
  • fluid retention
  • constant lower back pain
  • frequent, painful urination
  • weak bones (TCM)
  • fatigue specifically between 3pm and 7pm
  • fevers, chills, trembling
  • high blood pressure
  • a dull constant ache in the lower back may indicate kidney stones
  • ear problems, hearing loss, chronic ear infections (in adults and children)

Another sign that the kidneys are in a weakened state is, yes Ladies and Gentlemen, premature aging!  In another article I’ve written on this blog, ‘Longevity, Youth & Health’, I wrote the following in reference to kidney health:

{Immune deficiency, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is associated with the condition of the Kidneys. The kidneys are known as “the clock of the body”. History points to many Chinese scholars and physicians who achieved longevity by eating kidney traditional Chinese herbs and tonics. In My Teaching to Posterity, a literary classic by a Chinese scholar named Yan Zhi-Tui in the 6th century, he said, “I have been in the habit of eating kidney tonics throughout my life, which is why I could still read fine print when 70 years old with no gray hair on my head.”.  Even two Chinese emperors were famous for their longevity due to their firm beliefs in Traditional Chinese Medicine and to their regular practice of taking kidney tonics. ; Emperor Jia-Jing and Emperor Qian-Long.}

So if you’re dealing with too many wrinkles for your age, if your hair is graying too quickly, if your appearance is that of one in which you ‘look’ older than you truly are, then stop spending large sums of money on wrinkle creams and hair dyes. The kidneys should be your focus for a long, youthful, healthy life.  In these organs lies the true fountain of youth

So what are people doing that causes kidney disease and/or kidney stones?

First, kidney function becomes impaired, especially in elderly people, who chronically use NSAIDs drugs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), pain relievers such as Aleve, Motrin, and Advil. The high levels of creatinine in the body that these drugs cause are the reason for the impaired kidney function. This explains why an article in USA Today says that over 350,000 people in US are on kidney dialysis. Kidney dialysis is a treatment used to filter the impurities from the blood that the kidneys and bladder can no longer handle. And USA has THE HIGHEST dialysis death rate IN THE WORLD.

Kidney stones are something that humans have been dealing with since the beginning of humanity, according to scientific studies. Would you believe that in 1901, kidney and bladder stones were found in the pelvis of a 7,000 year old egyptian mummy 4800 B.C.? Here are the stones scientists found:

With that said, know that kidney disease and kidney stones are absolutely diet-related. A diet consisting of high fat, fried foods, dairy products, red meat, carbonated drinks, sugar and/or drug overload, aspirin, overuse of prescription drugs, salt and chemical diuretics. All of these are a sure way of developing kidney disease.

Diabetes is usually involved. Deficiencies in the body of B-vitamins, magnesium, and essential fatty acids, are also found in those with kidney diseases. High levels of aluminum, heavy metal poisoning from cadmium (from smoking cigarettes) and lead, are usually found on kidney disease tests. Allergies and low thyroid, hypothyroidism, also play a role in kidney disease. Adrenal stress and an overuse of antacids contributes to kidney stones.

And what exactly are kidney stones? These form when minerals that normally float freely in fluid eliminated by the kidneys combine into crystals. If the body has too little fluid and inorganic material overloads the body, kidney stones will form. When a stone blocks the urinary tract, it then results in debilitating and excruciating pain.

Preventing kidney stones depends on balancing and strengthening the kidneys with the right foods and herbs (herbs, of course, are also considered foods for the body).

Dehydration is a key factor in kidney stone formation.  So DRINK WATER! At least 6-8oz. glasses daily or half of your body weight in ounces! And drink water during the day!  It is not recommended to drink water right before bed.  It is also not recommended to sleep with water in the bedroom. This energy, according to Chinese medicine, weighs on the body during sleep and can cause unrestful sleep and nightmares.

A diet that is mainly vegetarian, low in starch and protein is best to prevent kidney stones. Dark green vegetables and fruits like lemons, limes, and grapefruits are foods that alkaline the body and help prevent stone formation.

Eliminate the following: fried foods, salty and sugary foods, caffeine foods, and carbonated beverages which impede the kidney from filtering waste. Avoid dairy foods, starches, fats and heavy grains since these cause clogging and mucous. Studies also show that TUMS, the antacid, increases the risk for stone formation.

At first, the body may not show any symptoms of kidney stones except for a dull ache in the lower back.  Yet, when the stone or stones become large enough to block the urinary tract, as I said before, the pain radiates through the body and becomes excruciating, debilitating, with constant urgency to urinate and extremely painful urination.  Other signs that the body specifically needs a kidney stone cleanse are:

  • a distended abdomen
  • women who have anemia or heavy menstrual bleeding
  • vitamin K deficiency

When an infection has set in, there is nausea, vomiting, fever and chills.

Use the following for kidney flushing support, to normalize kidney activity, reduce kidney inflammation, and to cleanse and detoxify the kidneys:

To help the body break down, flush kidney stones, and prevent recurrence of stones, combine:

Use the above programs individually for minimum 6 months to stimulate optimum kidney function.

In the photo below, I am here with my patient, Juanita Harris, and her husband. Juanita was a new patient of mine of only 4 months at the time of this picture.  She came to me looking for help when she was diagnosed 5 months prior with impaired kidney function and a risk of needing dialysis.  That month, September 7, 2012, 4 months after beginning her natural therapy program with me, she arrived for her followup appointment with copies of her newest lab results and was told by her allopathic conventional doctor that her kidneys were functioning beautifully again and no longer needed to see him!  Truly a blessing! How I love my job! So very grateful~🙏
