Psoriasis. Are You Inflamed?

Psoriasis on elbows.

Psoriasis. A skin disorder that affects close to 7 million people in the US. Immune system imbalances are involved, yet it is not contagious. Psoriasis is characterized by an abnormal growth of skin cells. While psoriatic skin cells take an abnormal 3-6 days to mature, normal skin cells mature in a month. A person suffering with psoriasis has dry, scaly and thick skin even when not experiencing the blistered, weeping episodes. It may seem like a simple skin disorder, but did you know over 450 people die each year from certain complications due to severe psoriasis? Did you know that a hypothyroidism and arthritis diagnosis often accompany psoriasis? Symptoms include:

  • Arthritic joint pain and skin
    joint inflammation
  • a significant ‘dip’ or pitting of the nails
  • inflammation, scaling and redness of skin usually on hands, feet, scalp, knees, behind knees, inside and outside of elbows
  • intense skin peeling, sometimes
    painful

Some severe cases have shown large amounts of skin loss which then make the person susceptible to infections that can become serious. It has been found that psoriasis can be a genetic disorder, that hereditary plays a role, yet recent studies point to more often a systemic inflammatory disorder and plaque build-up in the arteries.

Excellent results are seen with a holistic approach, as I have succeeded in helping patients achieve, including the following natural therapies that help correct psoriasis by focusing on strengthening the immune system, cleansing and detoxifying the blood and body, strengthening the nervous system to cope with stresses better, reducing stress, and reducing discomfort with herbal anti-inflammatories:

Healthy skin is attainable as so many have experiences when using a natural holistic approach. This is highly encouraged and stated in a report in The Lancet. The immune system needs time for strengthening. Use the above supplements for 3-6 months to ultimately help the body heal from this disorder. Healthy skin to All! Be Well!
