Healthy Sex, Toxins, Sexual Lubricants, And Sex Toys

It’s natural to want to have a diverse and uninhibited sexual experience with your partner. And if that includes sex toys, so be it. But what most people don’t know is how to be safe from health risks with these intimacy enhancements.

According to the article, ‘When Sex Goes Toxic’, and we quote: ‘most sexual intimate toys and sexual lubricants are chock full of toxic ingredients like parabens, sodium benzoate, glycerin, petrochemicals and even propylene glycol — a common ingredient in brake fluid! Recent studies have also shown that many such products — especially (commercial) personal lubes — can seriously damage the cell lining, potentially enhancing our susceptibility to sexually-transmitted bags o’ fun like Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, Genital Herpes, Hepatitis B and, of course, HIV.’ ‘According to market research firm Iri, Americans plunk down roughly $200 million annually on lube alone, a substance that sort of faces Food and Drug Administration scrutiny but not necessarily in the ways you might expect.

That’s because the FDA classifies lube as something “to lubricate a body orifice to facilitate entry of a diagnostic or therapeutic device.” (And if that doesn’t get you all hot and bothered nothing will.)’ ‘The problem with classifying lubricants this way, as a de facto medical device, is twofold. First, thanks to the glorious idiosyncrasies of language, such products only face FDA scrutiny if they explicitly portend to be “vaginal lubricants.” Such a stipulation imposes a stipulation that the manufacturer must submit a host of applications (called “510k clearances”) to the FDA. But it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to prove the product is safe for repeat contact.’ ‘Second, companies that don’t explicitly state their products are intended for vaginal lubrication — even if everybody knows they are — face barely any regulation at all. So, unless people’s junk starts spontaneously bursting into flames after rubbing on some Liquid Sexy Heat, most manufacturers just keep on peddling.’

And more from the article and what studies have shown: ‘From a toxicity perspective, we know that many intimate-use products currently on the market (most of which come from China, by way of Unregulatedville) contain a host of parabens. Parabens are known endocrine disruptors, and endocrine disruptors have, for some time, been linked to birth defects, reduced sperm count, tumors, immune deficiencies and a seemingly endless list of nasty business, like the “feminization of boys.”’ ‘Furthermore, while the U.S. lags behind regulating the toxins we come in contact with, the entire European Union is seeking to ban parabens in any product meant for children under 6 years old. Officials at the World Health Organization (WHO), meanwhile, have stated outright that endocrine disruptors can potentially lead to “obesity, infertility or reduced fertility, learning and memory difficulties, Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, as well as a variety of other diseases.”’ ‘“We don’t have categorical proof that the toxic substances found in (these products) will kill you,” admits Dr. Peter Anton, who recently co-authored an in-depth study on lubricant use. “But if you could easily avoid them why wouldn’t you?”‘

With that said, what healthy lubricant substances can one use to help lubricate sex toys without the risk of toxicity? And could there possibly be something that can work as preventative and treatment of STDs? Some people have found just that. SILVER SHIELD GEL is a gel derived from Aqua Sol Technology for recurrent daily use and has been shown to be an effective cleaning agent, promoting natural hydration and moisturizing the skin. It is non-toxic, poses no risk of contamination, is made with food-grade ingredients, and contains no alcohol. It is patented (patent no. 7,135,195) and to acquire such patent the studies proved its antimicrobial and antiviral properties. This gel is recommended by Naturopaths and Holistic practitioners in treatments of and prevention of STDs, and to treat and prevent other health challenges of the reproductive systems.  And it is a Vegan product!

For articles where this gel is recommended to help with challenges from Herpes to Yeast infections in Men and Women, click here. To obtain and learn more about SILVER SHIELD GEL click here. For more information on the US patent no. 7, 135, 195 click here. The best lubricant should be something that has no negative effects on the body, should act as a healthy treatment of the reproductive system each time it is used, and should help prevent disease. Finally, a lubricant has been developed that does just that. Yes, it is possible to have non-toxic sex with your partner utilizing intimacy enhancements that can be fun, help you both express yourself, and can create more of a bond and emotional connection.

Love, Be Safe, Healthy, and Enjoy!

8 Results To Expect From A Cleansing & Detoxification Program

Detoxification and Cleansing.  Doesn’t ‘cleansing’ negativity and bad health remnants sound like the right thing to do physically and spiritually?  And don’t we all want to Prevent Disease?  How can we think of preventing disease if we don’t consider using tools such as Detoxification?

The cleansing or purging of the intestines–detoxification–dates back to 2500 B.C. with Egyptian bowel specialists. The Greeks also used it, as did the American Indians. Detoxification has been known and used for ages. But this is the time in history it is the most needed and the most important. Foods have become denatured, devoid of enzymes, overly sugared, and just plain poisoned. Food and water have become more toxic. And our digestive systems are overloaded. Detoxification is absolutely imperative.

Your elders most likely practiced detoxification with you!  You may have memories of your grandmother or mother giving you a “clean-out” or “wash-out” every year right before the beginning of the school year…   Or you may remember being ill and watching your grandmother, or some family member, walk into the backyard,  pull some roots out of the ground, some leaves off a plant, wash them, and make you a potent tea that had you feeling light on your feet, energized, and brand new again in no time…

Detoxification has been called the ‘missing link to disease prevention’.  Unfortunately, with the amount of toxins in our foods and the environment, our bodies have difficulty performing such an automatic function alone. The process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through vital eliminatory organs such as the liver, kidneys, lungs, skin,  and colon,  is something they were once capable of when they were not completely overloaded.  If these toxic substances are not eliminated, our intelligent bodies push toxins to one side, and surround it in mucous and fat in order for us not to suffer an imbalance or immune reaction.

Our emotions are also affected by a toxic, congested body.  The emotion of ‘Not Letting Go’ is associated with the health of the colon/large intestine.  Negativity is more difficult to ‘let go’ of’ in life if a person is not having minimum 2-3 bowel movements per day. The colon when impacted in this way brings a person to suffer constipation.  So consider a detoxification  a step towards cleansing emotionally also…

For those who have considered Detoxification to manage their weight, or to lose weight successfully, you should know you’re perfectly right in doing so!  Why? For the following reasons:  The body surrounds toxins with MUCOUS and FAT.   If the body is storing foreign substances in fatty deposits, this is a crucial reason for Detoxification.   The more Fat the body is storing, the more Toxic the body is.  And maintaining a low fat diet and low body fat in general is a form of disease prevention also.   People can be carrying between 5 and 16 pounds of mucous and fat that carry toxic waste!

A cleansing and detoxification program should do the following:

  • 1- to clean the digestive tract of accumulated waste and fermented bacteria
  • 2- purify the liver, blood, and kidneys
  • 3- clear excess congestion and mucous from the body
  • 4- correct craving dependencies of nicotine, alcohol, drugs, sugar and caffeine
  • 5- increase mental clarity
  • 6- balance hormones
  • 7- strengthen the immune system
  • 8- and change bad eating habits in a person so their stomach reduces to normal size

In other words,  I expect the best results from the program I choose to recommend. Here are my favorite detoxification and cleansing programs that  help you achieve true core health, weight management/weight loss, energy, fitness and balance:

3 Types of Alcoholics. Which One Are You?

Newly updated 11/16/2016.

Do you have a friend or family member who is a heavy drinker or a binge
drinker
? In other words, an alcoholic? Most people do. And sadly, those that don’t, know someone who is an alcoholic or know someone who knows someone that is. The latest facts and statistics published Jan 2016 by The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism state that:

  • The United States spent $249.0 billion in 2010 on alcohol misuse problems.
  • Binge drinking is three-quarters of the total cost of alcohol misuse.
  • Regarding the global burden, in 2012, 3.3 million deaths, or 5.9 percent of all global deaths (7.6 percent for men and 4.0 percent for women), were attributable to alcohol consumption.

But some people have figured out a way to overcome this emotional and physical imbalance, and have figured out how to focus on bringing that oh so important vital organ called, the Liver, back to life.

There are various reasons why a person would begin to abuse alcohol and become addicted. First, understand the following… Negative addictions are ALL rooted in depression, as seen from a holistic and Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view. Addictions to everything from cigarettes to cigars, to marijuana and drugs, to alcohol, are ALL rooted in the person having some form of depression.

The Liver is the main vital organ directly linked to alcohol addiction, and is known, in the two alternative medicine approaches mentioned prior, to have a specific negative emotion that stems from it. The specific emotion related to the liver is, Anger. So, alcohol abuse (and again, ALL negative substance addictions) is characterized by depression, anger, stress, insecurities and, yes, deficiencies in the diet (nutritional deficiencies).

image

Genetics has been found to also play a part in reasons for alcohol addiction (and other addictions). Yes, believe it or not, it can be inherited as a family trait. Alcohol addiction is a serious disease…  Addictions as these are so severe, the person ‘feels’ as though they may die if they don’t continue with it. And unfortunately, the majority of addicts say they are not alcoholics.  Over 41% of alcoholics develop Hepatitis and Cirrhosis, both well-known liver diseases.  In other studies, alcohol abuse shows it also contributes to a compromised immune system, mineral deficiencies, mental deterioration, and even diabetes and pancreatitis.

According to the NIAAA (National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism), these are the latest 2016 published Drinking Statistics:

Alcohol Use in the United States:

  • Prevalence of Drinking: In 2014, 87.6 percent of people ages 18 or older reported that they drank alcohol at some point in their lifetime; 71.0 percent reported that they drank in the past year; 56.9 percent reported that they drank in the past month.
  • Prevalence of Binge Drinking and Heavy Drinking: In 2014, 24.7 percent of people ages 18 or older reported that they engaged in binge drinking in the past month; 6.7 percent reported that they engaged in heavy drinking in the past month.

Alcohol Use Disorders (AUDs) in the United States:

  • Adults (ages 18+): 16.3 million adults ages 18 and older3 (6.8 percent of this age group4 ) had an AUD in 2014. This includes 10.6 million men3 (9.2 percent of men in this age group4 ) and 5.7 million women3 (4.6 percent of women in this age group4 ).
  • • About 1.5 million adults received treatment for an AUD at a specialized facility in 2014 (8.9 percent of adults who needed treatment)5 . This included 1.1 million men5 (9.8 percent of men in need) and 431,000 women (7.4 percent of women who needed treatment).
  • Youth (ages 12–17): In 2014, an estimated 679,000 adolescents ages 12–176 (2.7 percent of this age group7 ) had an AUD. This number includes 367,000 females6 (3.0 percent of females in this age group7 ) and 311,000 males6 (2.5 percent of males in this age group7 ).
  • • An estimated 55,000 adolescents (18,000 males and 37,000 females) received treatment for an alcohol problem in a specialized facility in 2014.8

  • Alcohol-Related Deaths:
  • Nearly 88,000 people (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women) die from alcohol-related causes annually, making it the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States.
  • In 2014, alcohol-impaired driving fatalities accounted for 9,967 deaths (31 percent of overall driving fatalities).

Alcohol and the Human Body:

  • In 2013, of the 72,559 liver disease deaths among individuals aged 12 and older, 45.8 percent involved alcohol. Among males, 48.5 percent of the 46,568 liver disease deaths involved alcohol. Among females, 41.8 percent of the 25,991 liver disease deaths involved alcohol.34 »
  • Among all cirrhosis deaths in 2011, 48.0 percent were alcohol related. The proportion of alcohol-related cirrhosis was highest (72.7 percent) among decedents ages 25–34, followed by decedents aged 35–44, at 70.3 percent.35 »
  • In 2009, alcohol-related liver disease was the primary cause of almost 1 in 3 liver transplants in the United States.36 »
  • Drinking alcohol increases the risk of cancers of the mouth, esophagus, pharynx, larynx, liver, and breast.

Some people call themselves Moderate Drinkers. However, what is the difference between a Moderate Drinker, a Heavy Drinker, and a BINGE Drinker? Here is what the NIAAA explains are the specific ways in which each of them vary:

Moderate or “low-risk” drinking:

Research shows that people who drink moderately may be less likely to experience an ‘alcohol use disorder‘ (AUD). These drinking levels, which differ for men and women, are:

For men: No more than 4 drinks on any single day AND no more than 14 drinks per week

For women: No more than 3 drinks on any single day AND no more than 7 drinks per week

To stay low risk for AUDs, you must keep within both the single-day and weekly limits.

Heavy or “at-risk” drinking:

For healthy adults in general, heavy drinking means consuming more than the single-day or the weekly amounts listed above. About 1 in 4 people who drink above these levels already has alcohol dependence or alcohol abuse problems.

Binge drinking:

Binge drinking means drinking so much within about 2 hours that blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels reach 0.08g/dL. For women, this usually occurs after about 4 drinks, and for men, after about 5. Drinking this way can pose health and safety risks, including car crashes and injuries. Over the long term, binge drinking can damage the liver and other organs.

Having shared that, how else would you know if you are suffering with alcohol addiction? How else would you know if you are an alcoholic?. Here are some questions you can ask yourself:

  • Do I use alcohol for daily calories instead of food?
  • Do I experience frequent short term memory loss?
  • Am I suffering with nervousness?
  • Am I lacking in coordination that is noticeable to others?
  • Are my LDL cholesterol levels (bad cholesterol levels) high?
  • Is my blood sugar high?
  • Do I lack emotional control?
  • Am I angry very often, abusive, and aggressive towards family? Towards friends?

The Liver controls hormone balance and filters hormones. In Men, excessive alcohol especially affects their estrogen levels through liver damage. Alcohol abuse can bring a man to experience enlargement of breasts, reduced sex drive, and beard growth.  It also causes the testes (testicles) to shrink. There are lifestyle changes that can be quite a challenge for both men and women,  but making major lifestyle changes may be your best medicine for changing body chemistry.  These reforms may seem overwhelming and difficult at times,  but this is the first step to helping the body heal itself.

There are things that must be done to reduce’

alcohol craving. First, AVOID  people and places that might make you want to desire alcohol. And next, use alternative natural therapies since they have long proven effective in controlling cravings for alcohol, restoring liver health, emotional and physical balance and well-being within the body, and this has been evident in my own patients and clients.

8 Signs Your Body Needs A Skin Cleanse & Face Mapping

Most people feel that to have healthy skin takes a bit of work. And it is as if one wrong move can have you scarred and stressed about the appearance of your skin. From getting the wrong facial, to using the wrong razor to shave with, to using the wrong products on your skin. But some people have figured out a way to get their skin back, or better yet achieve the skin they always wanted, by focusing on some specific points…

(Side note: As my son watched me write this article, I was flattered to have him suggest I add a photo taken of us. He said, ‘If it’s about skin, mommy, you’ve got to put your picture!’ My child is so sweet…)
20140724-190502-68702733.jpg

The skin is the cover that reflects what is happening inside the body. Healthy, young, glowing skin means a healthy, young, glowing interior. I’m sure you know the skin is the largest organ of the body. And if you feed your body ‘junk’, then junky skin you will have, my friend. It is the organ of elimination and detoxification; the backup for the other elimination organs. If your colon is congested, overloaded, and toxic because you aren’t eliminating minimum 2 to 3 times daily, then the skin also becomes dull, overloaded and riddled with toxins.

The liver is the filter of the blood and it is also known that everything that has to do with the skin is also related to the blood, so your liver must be in optimum performance if you want optimally healthy skin. If the liver can’t efficiently filter impurities coming from the digestive tract, your skin suffers, trying to compensate by releasing toxins through the pores. If you are suffering with constipation, you will specifically experience acne and rashes.

Your skin is also the largest organ of absorption and indigestion; both of nutrients and toxins. If you have a healthy diet, your skin will prove it. Highly processed food, junk foods, fried foods, foods bombarded with hormones and chemicals and nutritional deficiencies are the first to show on the skin. Toxins are excreted through the oil glands. This leads to, not only acne, as I mentioned prior, but also boils.

Even your emotions are relevant in your skin! It is a mirror of your emotional and hormone balance, too. Stress causes the skin to react negatively and hormonal imbalances are perceived as poor skin texture, spots and/or blemishes.

Having shared all this, what are the 8 signs that indicate you need a skin cleanse? They are the following:

  • Do you have sallow skin? Poor skin coloring may indicate waste buildup from liver malfunction or drug residues. Do you have age spots? Brown mottled spots on the hands, neck or face may reflect waste accumulation in the liver.
  • Do you have adult acne, or uneven skin texture?  Waste build-up from environmental pollutants, poor, liver exhaustion and stress allow increased free radical formation which attack skin cell membranes.
  • Do you have wrinkles, or sagging skin contours? Free radical activity also affects skin collagen and elastic proteins, resulting in wrinkling and dry skin.
  • Do you have puffy or swollen eyes, dark circles under eyes, or crusty, mucous forming in your eyes? If your breath is also bad, it’s a pretty solid sign your body has an overload of fluid wastes.
  • Do you have a skin disorder?  Psoriasis, dermatitis, seborrhea, and even dandruff, all indicate its time for a skin cleanse.
  • Do you have skin sores or rashes that aren’t healing? or hard bumps on the skin?  Your body may be overloaded with waste that your not eliminating.
  • Do you have usually oily skin? or scaly, itchy skin? or chronically chapped and red skin? A skin cleanse will probably help.
  • Do you have poor circulation? Cold hands and feet, swollen ankles, poor digestion and chronic constipation are also signs that your body lacks tissue oxygen uptake. Poor skin tone is a sign of an antioxidant deficiency.

Yes. It is possible to have healthy skin again. Even if you dealt with products that harmed skin or had procedures that harmed skin. YOU CAN have amazingly glowing healthy skin!

image

Apart from the 8 signs I’ve detailed here, there is another tool you can use to unlock the cause of skin challenges.

As ‘Beauty Gypsy’ states in an article ‘Face mapping… combines Ayurveda and ancient Chinese medicine to explain how certain parts of your face are connected to other areas of your body. Put simply, think of your face as a map and blemishes as X’s on that landscape. Spots in different zones correspond to different problems.’ One can use the image above as a guide to help you address the underlying causes of your individual skin issue and at the same time take preventive measures to treat underlying health problems in time.

For the best combination focusing specifically on internal cleansing of the main eliminatory and vital organs that improves skin within just a short few weeks time using Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs, here is my favorite natural therapy combination for beautiful skin:

SKIN DETOX, Ayurvedic
TIAO HE CLEANSE
PAU D’ARCO LOTION

Use the prior combination for minimum 30 days. Then repeat every 3 months to maintain healthy skin always.

My Favorite Foods for Skin?

Water: Number one for hydrating skin from within naturally. Filtered water of course.

Papayas: Papayas are rich in vitamin C and help with collagen production. This fruit is also known to help nourish and heal dry, sagging skin.

Olive Oil (preferably Extra Virgin): Add this to your diet for EFA’s, the essential fatty acids needed for soft, fresh, healthy, young-looking skin. Olive Oil is best used raw, unheated, and drizzled on top of your food right before eating it after serving yourself on a plate. Also, it is recommended to rub Olive Oil on skin to lock in moisture. (Excellent during the fall and winter months.)

Green Tea: Wonderful for inflammatory, itchy skin conditions.

Celery, Tomatoes, Pears, and Lemon Juice: Chinese Medicine recommends preparing a juice blend of these. Prepare mixture and drink once per day for facial dark brown spots, itchiness, and acne.

*Extra Tip* Always wash face with cold water. This way you do not strip skin of its natural oils and prevent premature aging. As for skin on the body, do not take scalding hot showers. Instead, take showers in which the water is as cool as you can stand it.

Wellness to you! And enjoy healthy, glowing skin again!

Detoxify And Cleanse To Survive A Toxic World

(Article from my Healthy Living Blog with additional statistics and information.)

Redesigning Our Approach to Cleansing Eliminating Functions

DAILY
WEEKLY
MONTHLY
QUARTERLY
ANNUALLY
THE GOAL: To give you the tools to design the programs you personally need

OUR BODIES PERFORM 2 MAIN FUNCTIONS:

CLEANSING/DRAINING: dislodging, breaking down, and moving toxic materials through the body and out through the eliminative channels (CATABOLIC FUNCTIONS)

BUILDING/ENERGIZING/HEALING: This involves the constant repair and upkeep of our bodies. (ANABOLIC FUNCTIONS)

Why We Need to Detoxify Regularly

Carcinogenic Chemicals in our Water
Carcinogenic Occupational Toxins
Dietary Sources of Pollutants
Cleaning Chemicals
Personal Care Product Chemicals
Air Pollution
Harmful Xenoestrogen Sources

The Chemical Load Begins Before Birth ” …up to 232 toxic chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of 10 babies…The findings constitute hard evidence that each child was exposed to a host of dangerous substances while still in its mother’s womb.”

STARTLING TOXIC STATISTICS

More than 7 million accidental poisonings occur each year, with more than 75% involving children under age 6! —The Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons

According to the U.S. Poison Control Centers, “A child is accidentally poisoned every 30 seconds at home…”

In 2007, 4.1 billion pounds of approx. 650 chemicals were produced by industry and federal facilities.

Toxic chemicals released by industries this year 2014 to date:
4,531,550+ tons

Toxic chemical release – Each and every second 310 Kg of toxic chemicals are released into our air, land, and water by industrial facilities around the world.

This amounts to approximately 10 million tons (over 21 billion pounds) of toxic chemicals released into our environment by industries each year.

Of these, over 2 million tons (over 4.5 billion pounds) per year are recognized carcinogens. This amounts to about 65 Kg each second.

Toxic Inventory Release Database **We have approximately 75,000 chemicals produced to date. We are plagued by cancers of our eliminative channels with lung cancer in the lead followed by colon cancer.

Lung cancer: 226,160 new cases yearly, Colon cancer: 103,170 new cases yearly, Urinary cancer: 141,140 new cases yearly, Skin cancer: 81,240 new cases yearly.

***National Cancer Institute 2012 http://www.cancer.org/acs/groups/content/@epidemiologysurveilance/documents/document/acspc-031941.pdf

Environmental Medicine

“Chemical compounds ubiquitous in our food, air and water are now found in every person. The bioaccumulation of these compounds in some individuals can lead to a variety of metabolic and system dysfunctions… The primary classes of the most common toxic offenders are solvents, pesticides, and heavy metals. Of heavy metals, mercury is the one most individuals are burdened by. The systems most affected…include the immune, neurological and endocrine system.”

** Walter J. Crinnion ND. Alternative Medicine Review, Vol 5, 2000.

According to the website search.epa.gov, 80% of people’s exposure to chemicals occurs in the HOME. EPA (5 year study)– many homes had chemical levels 70 times higher than that of outside air. Common household cleaners are 3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air pollution.

Harmful Estrogens Are Found Everywhere
Foreign or xenoestrogens are found in:

The plastic or styrofoam cup holding your morning coffee
The PVC piping used in your homes and lawns
Detergents, cleaners, pesticides, lawn fertilizers, meat, unfiltered water, cosmetics
Microwaving foods in plastic can enhance the transfer of the plastics or phthalates into our bodies

Universal Chemicals found in Human Fat (EPA stats,1982)

Styrene from Styrofoam cups
Dichlorobenzenes from moth balls/deodorants
Xylene from gasoline
Ethylphenol from drinking water
OCDD from wood and treatment chemicals The first 4 are solvents. The 5th is a dioxin. The word, “universal” means that the average person has all of these in their body.

What about Children and Toxic Exposure?

The book, ‘Textbook of Children’s Environmental Health’ written by Landrigan Philip, published this year 2014, states how ‘in studying a cohort of inner city children in New York City, my colleagues and I are finding that many of the children were exposed prenatally to various air pollutants, pesticides, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and metals. By age 7 years, 25% of the children were overweight or obese, more than 25% had a diagnosis of asthma, and 15% had experienced delayed cognitive or motor development that could affect their ability to learn. One boy in the study is affected by asthma and developmental problems. Biomarkers in his cord blood showed measurable exposure to a number of toxic chemicals.’

And What About Sex Toys And Sexual Lubricants?

According to,’When Sex Goes Toxic’, ‘most sexual intimate toys and sexual lubricants are chock full of toxic ingredients like parabens, sodium benzoate, glycerin, petrochemicals and even propylene glycol—a common ingredient in brake fluid! Recent studies have also shown that many such products — especially personal lubes — can seriously damage the cell lining, potentially enhancing our susceptibility to sexually-transmitted bags o’ fun like gonorrhea, Chlamydia, syphilis, genital herpes, hepatitis B and, of course, HIV.’

‘According to market research firm Iri, Americans plunk down roughly $200 million annually on lube alone, a substance that sort of faces Food and Drug Administration scrutiny but not necessarily in the ways you might expect. That’s because the FDA classifies lube as something “to lubricate a body orifice to facilitate entry of a diagnostic or therapeutic device.” (And if that doesn’t get you all hot and bothered nothing will.)’

‘The problem with classifying lubricants this way, as a de facto medical device, is twofold. But it doesn’t necessarily mean it has to prove the product is safe for repeat contact.’

‘Second, companies that don’t explicitly state their products are intended for vaginal lubrication — even if everybody knows they are — face barely any regulation at all. So, unless people’s junk starts spontaneously bursting into flames after rubbing on some Liquid Sexy Heat, most manufacturers just keep on peddling.’

‘From a toxicity perspective, we know that many intimate-use products currently on the market (most of which come from China, by way of Unregulatedville) contain a host of parabens. Parabens are known endocrine disruptors, and endocrine disruptors have, for some time, been linked to birth defects, reduced sperm count, tumors, immune deficiencies and a seemingly endless list of nasty business, like the “feminization of boys.”’

‘Furthermore, while the U.S. lags behind regulating the toxins we come in contact with, the entire European Union is seeking to ban parabens in any product meant for children under 6 years old. Officials at the World Health Organization, meanwhile, have stated outright that endocrine disruptors can potentially lead to “obesity, infertility or reduced fertility, learning and memory difficulties, Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, as well as a variety of other diseases.”’

‘“We don’t have categorical proof that the toxic substances found in (these products) will kill you,” admits Dr. Peter Anton, who recently co-authored an in-depth study on lubricant use. “But if you could easily avoid them why wouldn’t you?”‘

The Benefits of Detoxification?

Opening the door to promoting healing and rejuvenation and greater longevity.
May promote slowing degeneration and aging.
It provides an internal shower and tune-up.
To be a personal tool for elimination of toxic waste accumulations, environmental toxins, acids, opportunistic organisms, mucus, excess fat, fluid buildup.
Inspires us to design for ourselves programs for healthier skin and complexion, weight management, reduction or elimination of aches and pains, more energy, more even moods, positive life outlook and more.

Prepare Your Mind to Meet Your Goals

We must have 100% commitment to truly get well. We may have to do some things we enjoy less than others. But what if we could change our thought processes and enjoy it all? That would be huge!! For every belief, there is a result. The faster we change our thinking, the faster the shift that brings the desired result.

Goals of Colon Cleansing

To reduce transit time (the time it takes for food to exit the body).
Transit time can range from 10 to 100 hours.
This reduces harmful chemical generation of bowel toxins.
Improve digestion.
To improve absorption of water soluble vitamins (B,C).
To maintain already normal range cholesterol levels.
To reduce the amount of pathogenic organisms.
To increase the natural healthy colon flora A clean environment may reduce toxins reabsorbing into body tissues.

13 Lifestyle Changes to a Healthy Colon

Breakfast like a king, Lunch like a queen, Dinner like a pauper. This decreases digestive burden at night.
Chew your food well.
Eat a high fiber diet.

11 Reasons Why You Should Detox, and 12 Natural Ways to Make it a Habit

“Death begins in the colon.” Different sources attribute this quote to The Royal Society of Medicine of Great Britain, Dr. Bernard Jensen and to Elie Metchnikoff, a Russian Nobel Prize-winning biologist.

No matter who said or penned it first, it seems sensible that the organ that houses the body’s waste and toxins for elimination is the same place where adverse health conditions would originate, and, consequently, health should flourish when proper care of this organ is given.

Cleansing

Most of us wash our hands many times a day to remove dirt, food residue and potential bacteria. We soap and scrub our bodies regularly to remove dead skin cells, sweat, bacteria and dirt. It only makes sense to clean the inside of our bodies periodically to help remove unprocessed food material, fiber, environmental pollutants and other debris, and to expel these same items that may be stashed in cells throughout the body. This can be achieved using herbs and nutrients that strengthen the body’s regular cleansing processes and help remove or neutralize toxins. Go here to see a list of cleanses and detox products.

Why Cleanse?

Just as cleaning your body’s exterior has many benefits (fresherlooking skin, removing bacteria, improving your scent), cleansing and detoxifying the body on a consistent basis offers many health benefits. These include:

  • Helps remove waste/debris and toxic chemicals (preservatives, artificial colors, pesticides, herbicides, etc.) from the colon and other body cells:
  • Improves digestion (removal of putrid material associated with gas, body odor, etc.)
  • Helps tune up the intestinal system, which has a tendency to get sluggish without proper fiber and water
  • Typically increases energy levels and promotes a feeling of well-being
  • May increase nutrient absorption
  • May increase efficiency of body systems and functions

How Toxic is Your Little Corner of the World?

You don’t have to live in a concrete metropolis to be surrounded by pollutants. Consider these sources of toxic chemicals and fumes, and steer clear where you can.

  • Household products, including cleansers, bleaches, ammonia cleaners, and “air fresheners” that contain powerful chemicals.
  • Personal care products often contain unsafe compounds. These include some lotions, make-up, nail polish, shampoo, deodorant, mouthwash, hair spray, etc.
  • Your lawn. Putting pesticides or herbicides on your lawn can make it healthier and nicer-looking. But the treatments that kill bugs and weeds can harm your cells too.
  • Your work environment. This can include fumes from gasoline, diesel fuel, paint, thinners, industrial cleaners and such, along with seemingly harmless gases from new carpeting, furniture, etc.
  • Xenoestrogens. These chemicals mimic estrogen in the body and can throw hormone levels out of balance. They are found in plastic packaging, Styrofoam, some cleaning products and lawn treatments, cosmetics, meat, etc.

To Maintain a Toxin-Free Body, Try to Avoid These:

  • Artificial chemicals, including colorings, flavorings and preservatives
  • Medicines such as hormones, acid blockers and antibiotics
  • Polluted environments (air, water, strong chemicals and fumes, etc.)

Did You Know? During active weight loss is an ideal time to cleanse and detoxify. As your body burns up fat, it releases more stored toxins, which need to be removed before they get back into your bloodstream.

The Do’s and Dont’s of “Detox” Eating

Research shows that certain foods, nutrients and habits can greatly aid the body’s normal detoxification processes. Consider adding the following to your grocery/supplement list and start some new, clean-eating habits.

  • Fresh vegetables, including broccoli, cabbage, kale, onions, garlic, tomatoes, celery, cilantro, artichokes and olives
  • Fresh fruits, including pomegranate, papaya, berries, grapes, watermelon and cherries
  • Nuts and legumes
  • Whole grains (plenty of fiber in general)
  • Lean meats and eggs
  • Herbs and spices, including dandelion, burdock, green tea, rosemary, grape seeds, turmeric, licorice root, fenugreek, slippery elm and kelp. Note: mucilaginous herbs may help carry toxins out of the body.
  • Probiotics. When waste sits in the colon too long, levels of bad bacteria can escalate. Bacteria continue to work on waste matter, creating toxins that may leak through the colon wall and into the bloodstream. Probiotics (friendly bacteria) help rebalance ratios of good bacteria to bad in the colon. They also support digestion and the assimilation of some minerals.
  • Other nutrients: aloe, antioxidants and B vitamins
  • Plenty of water

Cleansing/detoxifying your body two to four times a year should spell excellent news for your intestinal system and promote good health, energy and focus. Show your colon some love, and it will love you right back.

The stomach and intestines are often the first line of defense for your immune system, too. Your Skin & Abscesses, Boils, etc.

Newly updated July 10, 2016.

Most people who have suffered with a boil, and the like, have had a recurrence of it usually more than twice in their lifetime. And boils, furuncles, etc., are more than just uncomfortable, they are absolutely unsightly most of the time also! But some people have figured out how to help the body heal from them and prevent them from recurring ever again. There are different types of these skin disorders. I will detail here the most common ones.

Abscesses can be painful,  uncomfortable or even dangerous.  They are a manifestation of low immune resistance to pathogenic organisms.  Most of the time they often follow staph (viral or bacterial infections) representing part of your body’s toxic cleansing mechanism.  There are 3 different kinds of abscesses that people face today.

Boils are the most common.   Do you know what they  are?…  They are inflamed,  pus-filled sores,  often attended by chills, malaise and fever, exhibit weeping,  white,  green or even clear drainage.

Along with  Furuncles, they have common sites on gums,  buttocks,  the back of the neck,  armpits,  and in between the sides of the upper thighs.  Both Boils and Furuncles are usually staph infections of sebaceous glands, especially around the hair follicles (often caused by rough or contaminated razor blade). Make sure you, and your hair dresser/barber use clean shaving blades when shaving.

Carbuncles are groups of boils where the staph infection extends out into the subcutaneous layer of the skin.  Recurrent attacks of the boils and abscesses indicate a depressed immune system. Extreme cases may require medical treatment.  People that lack vegetable protein and essential fatty acids are more at risk to get them.  Diabetics are also at special risk.

You can start to prevent these by eliminating all fried foods, red meat, and pork, from your diet. These are main reasons as to why abscesses appear.  Drink at least 6 glasses of water daily,  and incorporate dark green vegetables into your diet. Make sure you are having at least 2 to 3 bowel movements a day. Constipation will not only contribute to boilsfuruncles and carbuncles, but it will also cause you severe acne.
